Every so often something makes you feel prety good

I'm talking about this article - man, Sprint is the worst company to try and partner with on a business level.  I mean they absolutely FUCK you over every chance they get.  Most recently they decided to change the parameters of their vendor / resale agreement they have with our/my small tech company, a decision that effectively has my partners and I asking if it's even worth continuing to business with them.

So then I happen to trip aross this article, and it makes my heart warm.  If the next article I see is that Sprint was about to file bankruptcy I dont think it would upset me one bit.

Sometimes it IS better to be lucky than good

So I have to admit I have a minor addiction to online gaming.  Not gambling mind you, but typically MMOs - Massively Multiplayer Games.  I've played AC, AC2, EQ, DAOC, AO, COH, and currently I've drifted back into WoW With the new release of their expansion.

But in addition to online gaming, I used to have another addiction called CCGs - Collectible Card Games.  In person (That's right, face to face) you go play in tournaments and actually I used to be pretty good, including doig fairly well in several PTQs - although never actually making it to a Pro event. That was a few years ago, and I drifted away from it as my career has progressed, but recently I settled back in for Magic Online - same game, new cards, still the ability to compete and win prizes.

Which leads to this rant: how come I can never seem to crack the big bombs?  I played a guy in draft last night that was playing some ridiculous mix of junk - 4 colors (which is unheard of in draft) that my well draftd, well thought out two color deck (featuring 6! removal cards and a nice curve from 2 to 5 drops, plus a Chronowhatever he is, the big beefy white guy that you can return to play by skipping a turn) only to get eaten alive by a freaking AKROMA in games 2 and 3.  This guy dropped land every frigging turn and on 8 WHACK out comes Akroma. She's a real wrecking ball for those that don't know.

For those that REALLY don't know, she's nearly impossible for anything other than a blue deck to get rid of - excet for a white deck.  Which I had - well, I was BW, which generally translates to exactly what I had - mostly all white aggression with black removal. I even sided in the janky gaze of Justice, but couldn't find it in time to save game 3.

I'm whining now, so Ill stop, but the frustration lingers on.

4 colors, and cracked a frigging Akroma to wreck me.  I'm so bad at this game.

Who likes football anyhow?

Yipes...both teams whacked in one day.  Oh well..as I said in week 2, they're both lousy.  As I expected, capgun-armed Chad Pennington couldn't get it done.

As for the Giants, what the hell was management thinking re-upping Tom Coughlin for another year?  The guy is a .500 coach for his career! I can only hope the strategy there was one of two things: Go get Bill Cowher after next season and he's become bored with sitting on his arse watching, or go get Bill Parcells after he gets fed-up with the T.O./Jerry Jones dance party.  Either way, they'll have a coach that can get Eli Manning to flourish if he's capable of doing so, while respecting a nut like jeremy Shockey.  Sure they guy is a head case, but he's the best tigt end in football, and Coughlin seems determined to alienate the guy.

I guess for the rest of the playoffs I can split my ethusiasm between the Seahawks and the Pats.

Moving In

First post at the new blog. I've been really bad about not updating my old blog, but I had some real problems: first off, I really wanted an offline way to create posts and then upload at my leisure.

I found the beta of Windows LiveWriter, and I loved it, I could do pretty much everything i wanted offline, then upload it! Of course, it didn't run on my MacBook, but I could run it on the Vista partition I had installed, so that was cool for a while. Until it unexpectedly and unexplainedly stopped working. So...then I tracked down an early build of Qumana, but sadly, it didn't seem to work right either!

Now I have a nice new install of Qumana on OSX, but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to want to work with Windows Live Spaces. So. I thought, let me try a new place, make a new home, use an offline editor, and maybe even manage to post on a regular basis.

Oh, as an aside, the really sucky thing about LiveWriter not working and never working again is I actually had a fistful of posts written, and all of them were un-uploadable! So those thoughts are lost to the sands of time - luckily they mostly related to how bad the Jets and Giants were doing - since they're both in the playoffs, those posts disappearing can only enhance my appearance of knowing what I am talking about!
